Dear Supporters of Save Our Pines,
Wednesday, December 3, SAVE OUR PINES non-profit is being recognized at the performance of the Key West Nutcracker for our contribution to the community. As part of the recognition of Save Our Pines we feel it is time to announce the "Adopt a Pine" Plan. Copies of the following will be available on our table in the lobby.
We are working with the Park Service to create a simple process for citizens to "Adopt a Pine" at Fort Zachary Taylor.
GOAL: To enhance the survival of the Pines at Fort Zachary Taylor Park.
This goal will be achieved because:
(1) the pines will likely receive special treatment from all concerned merely because each has been "adopted"
(2) those who "adopt" will keep track of "their" pines and report any problems to Save Our Pines.
We hope that the affiliation created by "Adoption" may give special satisfaction and pleasure to those citizens involved. Additionally, the program may provide funding needed to sustain a small coordination and communication effort at Save Our Pines.
Also, we expect that attendance and support of the Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park will be enhanced.
MAPPING:
Adoption of a specific pine or pines is now possible because the Park Service has marked each pine by an affixed number tag, and has prepared a map indicating the exact locations (by precision GPS) of each of the approximately 750 pines in Fort Zachary Taylor Park.
